A MARVELOUS ORDER
Two Scenes: Jones Beach and Moses Turns Ideas Into Reality
June 15, 17, and 18 at 7:00 PM sharp (25 minute performances)
200 Broadway, New York, NY
We’re excited to bring excerpts of A MARVELOUS ORDER, our opera about Jane Jacobs and Robert Moses, to a very special performance in lower Manhattan this week. A 25 minute excerpt of the opera will be presented live, in a site-specific adaptation for the Fulton Center, a new transit hub of the MTA. Josh will modify the opera’s animations to fit the wrap-around LED screens within the terminal, while live performers sing and play instruments in the midst of commuters and tourists and everyone else. The station will remain open to the public as usual while the opera unfolds among and around them.
This event is free and performances will start promptly at 7 PM, concluding by 7:30 each evening.
The performance will feature five singers from our cast at last year's "pre-premiere" at the Williams College '62 Center, including Dashon Burton (of Roomful of Teeth) as Robert Moses, Eliza Bagg, Tomás Cruz, Lucy Dhegrae, and Christopher Herbert, with special video appearances by Rinde Eckert and Jonathan Woody. NOW Ensemble will reprise their role as the "orchestra," and David Bloom will continue to ably steer the ship as conductor and music director, a special challenge in this dynamic environment.
Check out the notices in the New Yorker and the New York Times, which is about the River to River festival generally, but kindly gives us top billing.
